4 min read

What is the challenge?

Race Around the World is one of our biggest challenges that sees members put into teams and work together to complete famous cycling routes from across the globe!

This year, members will be placed into teams of 12. They will be given landmarks and a distance goal to work towards as a team each week and our weekly instructor “Challenge Captain” will announce leading teams whilst motivating members to keep pushing to get across the finish line every Sunday during the challenge.

The routes are listed below:

10.11.24 - UK - Land's End to John o' Groats - 1189 miles

17.11.24 - Australia - Great Ocean Road - 413 miles

24.11.24 - Germany - Baltic Sea Cycle Route - 510 miles

01.12.24 - France - Pyrenees coast to coast - 472 miles

08.12.24 - US - Pacific Coast Highway - 1650 miles

Total Distance: 4,234 miles

WHEN DOES THE CHALLENGE START?

The challenge will be kicking off on Sunday 10th November 2024

HOW WILL I FIND OUT MY TEAM?
If you have signed up, Echelon will announce your team and teammates on 23rd October 2024, and each team will be asked to choose a team captain and come up with an official team hashtag. There will be a finishers badge for every team and members who complete the challenge.

HOW DO I CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS MY TEAM'S SCORE?
Individually, you will contribute to your team's distance in every workout you do on the Echelon app during the challenge. Both live and on-demand rides will contribute to your team’s number.

HOW DO I RECORD MY DISTANCE?

Echelon will record your distance via your individual Echelon memberships, and provide weekly updates on Monday via the Community and email. All mileage that you complete as an individual on your live, encore and on-demand classes will count towards your team's total.

We know that on occasion rides, rows and runs will show as a DNF and we don't want you to lose these miles. So, this year we have a form for you to complete and we will add a fixed total for that workout:

I DON'T HAVE A LOT OF TIME TO COMMIT / I'M NOT VERY FIT YET, BUT I STILL WANT TO BE INVOLVED.
You don't need to be an athlete to get involved with this challenge! Everyone's efforts, large and small, will make a positive contribution to your team.

I HAVE A TREADMILL/ROWER. WILL MY DISTANCE COUNT AS WELL?
Yes! Any mileage you achieve with your Echelon membership on any of our bikes, rowers, or treadmills will count towards your team.

CAN I COUNT OFF EQUIPMENT WORKOUTS TOWARDS MY MILEAGE?

Unfortunately not. You can only submit any mileage you have accumulated as part of a cycle, run or row class on the app.

HOW DO WE FIND OUT OUR TEAM'S TOTAL DISTANCE SO FAR?
Echelon will reveal this at the end of week through emails and via the Facebook Community. The instructors will also give updates during our featured Challenge rides on Sundays.

WHEN DOES THE CHALLENGE END?
The challenge  will end at midnight on Sunday 8th December 2024,

I MISSED THE DEADLINE TO SIGN UP, CAN I STILL GET INVOLVED?
Due to overwhelming interest in this event, all places have now been filled and registration is closed.
